Washington Sundar is a left-handed batsman and right-arm off-spinner. He has performed for the India national U-19 team. In 2016, he made his first-class appearance for Tamil Nadu in the 2016–17 Ranji Trophy.

Sundar took 8 wickets in 6 matches in the 2018 Nidahas T20 tournament. During the Nidahas tournament, he took a maiden 3-wicket haul, making him the youngest T20I player to do so so far.

In 2017 IPL, Sundar played for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiants and the youngster bowled exceptionally well in the season, directing his team to the finals. Thus far, Sundar played 18 IPL matches and scored 74 runs and picked up 12 wickets.

The Tamil Nadu born off-spinner Washington Sundar also has the ability to open the innings for his side as well which is an excellent option to have. Sundar can open for the Indian team in the future if the openers fail to perform.
