The BCCI have been looking for a left-arm quick for the long run, since this is a position where India don't boast of many talents, and K Khaleel Ahmed, the youngster from Rajasthan, has made an instant impact. He was selected for the 2018 Asia Cup and has done well in the two matches he has played so far.

Though the Indian pace attack did a commendable job in England, it was nowhere near to the level of the English bowlers. The Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya trio took 44 wickets, ten less than the James Anderson, Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes. Hence, the BCCI may well give Khaleel Ahmed a chance to drape the whites and have a go in Tests, so as to test his mettle in the longest format of the game.
