#3 Absence of a core bowling unit

A team cannot win without a good and settled bowling lineup. And RCB has not been able to fulfil this condition. RCB too has failed to establish a core and settled bowling lineup over the recent years which has been a big worry. The team has struggled to find a consistent bowling core since the retirement of Ashish Nehra and Daniel Vettori.
This worry was largely exaggerated in the previous season when RCB conceded runs at an economy of 11.9 during the death overs, the most by any team. Due to this, they lost most of those matches, which they could have easily won.
Yuzuvendra Chahal has been one of their key bowlers. However, he too has failed to deliver consistently. He had just 12 wickets in 14 matches in the previous season and 14 wickets in 13 matches in 2017 season.
The teams like CSK, KKR and MI have been successful because they have been in a contrary position. CSK have Lungi Ngidi, Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo as their core bowlers, KKR have Andre Russell and Sunil Narine while MI has Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell McClenaghan and all of them have been consistent performers for their team.
