#1 Younger captain can achieve long-term glory

Delhi Daredevils, the perennial underachievers of the Indian Premier League, have a team that has the ability to dominate the tournament in the next decade or so. In the last two to three years, the team management has regularly reiterated that they building a team for the future.
The potential in Indian youngsters like Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Prithvi Shaw is immense. Even in their bowling department, they have young foreigners like Kagiso Rabada and Sandeep Lamichhane. These players can be with the team for a long time.
All the above-mentioned players have the ability to become iconic players of the franchise. IPL teams - Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Kolkata Knight Riders - with multiple titles have enjoyed success because they had retained their core set of players over a period of time. Delhi with a talented young team should look to follow the same mantra and they seem to be on the right path as of now.
Five to six years down the line, the Daredevils might emerge as the strongest team but will Dhawan be able to lead by example then when age is not on his side. If Delhi wants to dominate the league in the next decade, they should definitely prefer a younger captain who can lead the team in their period of dominance.
If Delhi, with a team full of promising youngsters, do not plan their future well then they will still have the tag of perennial underachievers hanging around their necks.
