During the 1997 Women's World Cup, England Women battled with the Irish Women's team at Pune where England's opener Charlotte Edwards scored 173 in the first innings helping the English side score 324/3 in their 50 overs.
Lisa Keightley's record of 156 runs was broken by Charlotte Edwards on that day but never did she know that her record would soon be broken just miles away in Mumbai.
The Australian Women's team locked horns with the Danish team at Mumbai and the Australian captain Belinda Clark became the first ever cricketer to score a double hundred in ODI cricket when she played a marathon innings of 229* versus Denmark. Australia set a target of 413 for their opponents, who were bundled out for just 43 in the 2nd innings.
Thus, on 16th December 1997, Charlotte Edwards broke the record of Lisa Keightley but later in the day her record was shattered by Belinda Clark.
