#2 Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma's career is a tale of two halves and the second half seems to be the better one. He was in and out of the limited-overs squad after the T20 World Cup triumph in 2007.
In 2011, Rohit strengthened his position in the absence of heavy hitters like Dhoni, Tendulkar and Yuvraj by impressing in the tour of West Indies. Just when it seemed like his career would take off, he failed to shine in 2012 and made a string of low scores.
Nevertheless, Dhoni backed him and turned him into an opener in white-ball cricket. Rohit then played a part in India's triumphant campaign in the Champions Trophy.
However, he truly made a name for himself in Australia's tour of India in 2013. The 7-match ODI series saw Rohit plunder the opposition bowlers for runs. He smashed two centuries, including a double hundred in the decider where he scored 16 sixes at Bengaluru.
The double ton helped establish him as an opener and the opening combination he shared with Shikhar Dhawan continues till date. Rohit has scaled many peaks since then and made the highest individual ODI score when he scored 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014. The right-hander is now widely regarded as one of the most dangerous batsmen in the world.
