Big Boss Season 18 Weekend Ka Vaar special episode will reportedly feature three cricketers as guests on Sunday, January 12. According to a report by Times of India (TOI), T20 World Cup 2024 winner Yuzvendra Chahal will appear on the show with IPL 2024 winning captain Shreyas Iyer and rising star Shashank Singh.
All three players will play for the Punjab Kings in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It seems like the franchise has planned a marketing move by allowing the three players to appear on the popular Indian reality TV show. Ahead of the new IPL season, the trio will be seen as guests on Season 18 Weekend Ka Vaar.
Bollywood megastar Salman Khan is this show's host, and here's a look at four former Indian cricketers who have previously appeared on the show as participants.
#1 Salil Ankola - Big Boss Season 1
Former cricketer Salil Ankola was the first one from the Indian cricket team to appear on the reality show. However, Ankola did not enjoy a long run as he had to exit from the house owing to his film commitments.
Ankola played one Test match and 20 ODIs for India from 1989 to 1997. He bowled right-arm medium-fast pace and scalped a total of 15 wickets across both formats.
#2 Vinod Kambli - Big Boss Season 3
One of the most controversial cricketers in Indian cricket history, Vinod Kambli participated in the third edition of the reality show. However, like Salil Ankola, Kambli did not have a lengthy stay in the house and left after just 15 days.
Kambli represented India in 17 Tests and 104 ODI matches. The left-handed batter smashed six international centuries for India across Tests and ODIs. His last professional cricket appearance came for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy in 2004.
#3 Navjot Singh Sidhu - Big Boss Season 6
Navjot Singh Sidhu was known for his big hits on the cricket field. After announcing his retirement from cricket, Sidhu focused on several other fields, including entertainment. He joined Big Boss as a participant for the sixth edition of the show.
However, Sidhu did not have a long run inside the house as he had to move out due to his political commitments. Sidhu recently returned to the commentary panel and worked as a Hindi commentator for Star Sports during IPL 2024 and T20 World Cup 2024.
#4 Sreesanth - Big Boss Season 12
Sreesanth was the last Indian cricketer to participate in Big Boss. He was a participant in the 12th season of the show. While the other players could not make it big, Sreesanth made it to the top 2 of the show but failed to win the trophy.
While Sreesanth could not win that trophy, he won a T20 World Cup and an ODI World Cup as a part of the Indian squad. He was a member of India's playing XI in both the T20 World Cup 2007 and ODI World Cup 2011 finals. Sreesanth works as a commentator and plays in the Legends League these days.
