He went onto score his second double-hundred, an unmatchable 264 runs off 173 balls and brought the world to its feet to applaud his masterclass innings. India went onto score 404/ 5 in their allotted 50 overs.

In reply, the Sri Lankan innings never got off to the start they needed to chase this mammoth total. They kept losing wickets and were eventually bowled out for 251 runs, 13 short of Rohit's score of 264.
