If anyone asks which is the most prominent and consistent team in the history of IPL, without a single doubt, it is Mumbai Indians.

They are record three-time champions of the IPL. It is a team which has been graced by the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Harbhajan Singh, Ricky Ponting, Lasith Malinga among other greats of the game

Since the inception in 2008, the fans of Mumbai Indians have witnessed some memorable matches over the ten years. We have seen some thrilling matches, some nail-biting finishes, and some incredible performances.

Without further doing, let us take a look at the matches which a Mumbai Indians fan will never forget.


#4 Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians (Mumbai Indians won by 4 wickets)

Invited to bat first, Royal Challengers Bangalore made a decent effort to put-up a competitive total of 142 for loss of six wickets on a slow-Bangalore pitch. Virat Kohli top scored for Royal Challengers, scoring 62 runs from 47 balls.

Chasing a modest score of 143, Mumbai Indians lost their first wicket in the form of Parthiv Patel to Stuart Binny.

Then Samuel Badree decided step-up on his debut, bowled a sensational spell which included a hat-trick in the Powerplay.

Mumbai found themselves in trouble after being reduced to 33/5 in 8 overs.

However, the best was yet to come for Mumbai Indians. Keiron Pollard and Krunal Pandya batted sensibly and stitched a crucial partnership worth of 93 runs from 57 balls.

Both took the match to the end. Pollard was dismissed soon after his fifty, but he had taken Mumbai towards the safe shores.

Pandya brothers added the finishing touches and grabbed the victory for Mumbai.

#3 Mumbai Indians vs Gujarat Lions-2017 (Mumbai Indians won in Super Over)

The Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians produced the first Super Over of VIVO IPL 2017 by scoring identical 153 runs.

Requiring 154 runs win the match, Mumbai Indians were cruising towards the victory at one stage. Due to the mess made by Mumbai Indians' batsmen, Gujarat Lions were back in the match.

When Patel was dismissed, Mumbai required 45 from 37 balls. At the start of the 19th over, they needed 15 runs.

Bowling an excellent over, Basil Thampi removed Hardik Pandya and Harbhajan Singh, conceding four runs. Irfan Pathan bowled the last over for Gujarat Lions and gave ten runs, tieing the match.

Going into Super Over, batting first, MI lost their two wickets for 11 runs. However, Bumrah bowled a sensational over, restricting the home side to six runs and guiding the away side into the victory.

Due to the elections in India, the first leg of the tournament was held in UAE. Mumbai looked down and out in the UAE leg and lost all five matches played there.

They came down to India and had to win all the games if they have to qualify for playoffs.

Mumbai Indians entered their last match of league phase at the Wankhede with a win-win situation.

Rajasthan Royals batted first which meant that Mumbai had to chase the target in 14.3 overs. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 189 for four in their allotted 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians shakily started their chase before Corey Anderson wrecked the havoc in Rajasthan's camp.

He scored an unbeaten 95 off 44 balls to help Mumbai chase the target. Faulkner had eight runs to defend off two balls, but Ambati Rayudu in the long-of region cleared a full toss. The equation came to 2 from 1 ball for Mumbai based franchise but lost a wicket in-form of a run-out while running for the second run.

Rayudu fell to his knees, and the Royals celebrated.

There was a twist in the tale. Mumbai could qualify for a playoff spot if they manage to score a boundary in the next ball.

Aditya Tare was on strike and smashed Faulkner's final delivery for a six. Mumbai entered playoffs due to the late heroics of Tare.

Anderson bagged Man of the Match for his clinical performance with his bat.

Mumbai Indians finally broke their Pune-jinx in a last-ball thriller to defeat Rising Pune Supergiant by a solitary run and lift the Indian Premier League trophy for a record third time.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Mumbai Indians set the tone for a cautious start on a slower Hyderabad pitch.

Lendl Simmons and Patel scored just seven off two overs. In the third over, Jaydev Unadkat dismissed Patel with a short ball and pulling off a return catch of Simmons.

From there, MI never recovered. Adam Zampa removed Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard in the 11th over.

After the end of 11th over, they were 65 for five.

For the eighth wicket, Krunal Pandya and Mitchell Johnson accounted for a strong 50-run partnership to dig Mumbai Indians out of trouble.

Pandya milked three fours and two sixes to take Mumbai to 129/8 at the end of 20 overs.

Chasing 130 to win the title, Rahul Tripathi was trapped leg before in the third over by Bumrah.

However, Ajinkya Rahane and skipper Steven Smith added 54 runs for the second wicket. Due to this slow partnership and slow surface, Pune were left requiring 47 of the last 30 balls.

Johnson held onto his nerves in the final over, brought all his experience to use and restricted Pune from their maiden title.

Off the final delivery, RPS required four runs. Dan Christian pushed it through the deep square and deep midwicket.

Mumbai gave just two runs and clinched the thriller by just one run.
