#2. His aggression
"When there is only a choice between cowardice and violence, I would advise violence," said Mahatma Gandhi.
Gautam Gambhir seems to have followed the words of his country's leader. He has always been a man of violence with the bat in his hand. When his silence is mistaken for cowardice, he often erupts.
The aggression with which he captained his teammates on the field is second to none in cricket. His aggression ensured that his players stayed focused on the game and gave their best.
Sometimes his aggression crossed the line, displaying his ugly side. But after each such incident, he came out with a positive statement of apology.
#1 His consistency
Gambhir has been a consistent scorer for his team across all seasons in IPL, except the last one. He sits fourth in the list of batsmen with most runs in IPL, with 4217 runs to his name.
Gambhir is on top of the list of most 50s in IPL; he has 36 half-centuries to his name. That is almost one half-century in every four innings he played.
Gambhir had been in the race for the orange cap in almost every season, losing it by fine margins most of the years. A player with such a level of consistency is very rare.
