The former Australian wicket-keeper had played many match-winning knocks for his country. He used to play the same kind of innings when he was picked by IPL franchises. He had a good debut season in IPL 2008 but failed to win the trophy despite having star cricketers in 2008.

In the first edition of IPL season, batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a total of 154 in 20 overs. Deccan Chargers skipper Adam Gilchrist smashed his first IPL century and helped his team to chase this total in just 12 overs. His opening partner VVS Laxman remained unbeaten on 37.

His another IPL century as wicket-keeper came against Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011. With the help of Adam Gilchrist’s 106 off 55, Kings XI Punjab posted a massive total of 232 on the board which saw RCB bundled out for just 121 in 17 overs. The former Australian was adjudged the Man of the Match award on both the occasions. He became the first Aussie player to smash two centuries in IPL.
