The left-handed batsman was the first ever Orange Cap winner in the IPL, scoring 616 runs at a staggering average of 68.44 in the first edition of the tournament for Kings XI Punjab. He is currently the leading run scorer for KXIP.

He is one of only a handful of cricketers to have represented the same team throughout the 10 seasons of the competition. Virat Kohli (RCB) and Harbhajan Singh (MI) are the others.
