#3 Sanath Jayasuriya - 8873 runs (Sri Lanka/Asia XI)
Well-known for his striking abilities with the bat and his useful bowling skills, Sanath Jayasuriya was a complete package for the ODI format. He featured in 445 ODIs for the island, in a career spanning 22 years, from 1989 to 2011.Opening the innings with Romesh Kaluwitharana, he got them off to rocking starts when the field restrictions were in place.
Sri Lanka won 233 of the 445 matches that he was part of. During this period, he scored 8873 runs from 9187 balls at an average of 41.26 including 43 fifties and 24 hundreds. His useful left-arm spin also earned him 323 wickets of which 222 have come in Sri Lankan wins.
Also, his exploits at the top of the order and his bowling skills helped him earn the Most Valuable Player of the tournament award during Sri Lanka's victorious World Cup campaign in 1996.
