Taijul Islam, the southpaw, is the bowler who holds the record of best bowling in a Test innings for Bangladesh. He took eight wickets conceding 39 runs back in 2014 against Zimbabwe. Against the same opponent, he registered his best bowling figures in a Test match. He took 11 wickets for 170 runs in Sylhet International Stadium.
Sylhet International Stadium got an opportunity to host a Test match when the first Test of Bangladesh-Zimbabwe series 2018 was scheduled to take place in it. The new venue is the eighth Test venue in Bangladesh. Sylhet's debut in the Test cricket became memorable by remarkable bowling performance of Taijul.
The left-handed spinner played the role of Bangladesh's best bowler in the match taking a six-for in the first innings conceding 108 runs. Zimbabwean batsmen were helpless rudderless to play Taijul in the first innings of the match. They replicated the same performance in the second innings as they lost five wickets to the same bowler.
