5 Bollywood stars who reacted to India’s 2024 T20 World Cup win ft. Amitabh Bachchan

India beat South Africa by seven runs in the final of the ICC men's T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Saturday, June 29. The Men in Blue batted first and put up a challenging total of 176-7 thanks to a half-century from Virat Kohli (76) and a stellar knock by Axar Patel (47).

In response, it appeared as if Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller would take the Proteas home. But Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh and eventually Hardik Pandya held their nerves to guide India home.

India had last won a T20 World Cup in 2007 and waited 17 years to taste the feeling again. Only Rohit Sharma was a part of the squad the last time around.

#1 Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan, who is arguably the finest actor the country has produced, is also a huge cricket buff and is known to follow every game that Team India play.

On Saturday too, he watched the game and commented on how happy this win had made him and the rest of the country.

Taking to social media platform X, the most popular star of Bollywood wrote that tears were flowing down his eyes in sweet relief of what the team had achieved.

"Tears flowing down, in unison with those that Team India sheds (sic)," he wrote.

#2 Anushka Sharma

Actress Anushka Sharma also posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram account, saying that she was immensely pleased with Team India's win.

Sharma, who is married to India star Virat Kohli, also wrote that she was grateful to be able to call the ace batter her 'home.'

The Jab Tak Hai Jaan actress often takes to social media platforms to send good wishes to her husband and his colleagues, and Saturday was no different.

#3 Kamal Haasan

Kamal Haasan, who is on par with the great Amitabh Bachchan as one of the most gifted and skilful actors in the country, lauded Team India on their win.

Taking to social media platform X, he wrote that it was a victory for the ages and that the wait was finally over. Haasan, who has also dabbled in politics alongside acting, is known for his thought-provoking, dreamy and artistic films. He is also known to be a huge cricket buff.

"The wait is over! A victory for the ages! When the going got tough, the Men in Blue showed what they are made of!" he wrote.

#4 Kartik Aaryan

New-age Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan, who must be basking in the success of his latest film Chandu Champion, congratulated Team India for their stunning win over South Africa in the final on Saturday.

The Pyar Ka Punchnama 2 star wrote that it was a 'historic' win for the team and that it was because they refused to surrender and fought till the end to win everyone's hearts eventually.

#5 Ajay Devgn

Famous Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, who has been in the industry for more than three decades, is a keen supporter of the Indian cricket team and follows the sport religiously.

The Drishyam star took to the social media platform X to congratulate the Men in Blue and laud them for their heroic effort on Saturday in Barbados.

He wrote that this victory will be etched in his heart and that words cannot describe the joy he felt watching the team defeat South Africa in the all-important final.
