#3 Mohammad Azharuddin
The former Indian captain is one of the unluckiest cricketers not to have scored a double hundred in Test match cricket. Azharuddin is one of those rare cricketers who fell one short of 200 in a Test match innings. He was dismissed for 199 against Sri Lanka at Kanpur in 1986. Having made his Test debut against England in 1984 at Eden Gardens, Azhar went on to score three hundreds in his first three Test matches.
A technically gifted cricketer, Mohammad Azharuddin scored a total of 22 hundreds in Test cricket and seven in ODI cricket, at an average of 45.02 and 36.92 respectively. The Hyderabadi cricketer has represented India in 99 Tests and 334 One Day Internationals, and scored more than 15000 international runs. Azhar became the captain in 1989 and led the Indian team in 47 Test matches and 174 One Day Internationals.
