#2 Sunil Gavaskar (15)

The first superstar of the great Indian batting lineage, Sunil Gavaskar was probably the most technically sound opener the world has ever seen. Gavaskar had an amazing record against the most fearsome opposition of that time, West Indies. West Indian team consisted of some great fast bowlers at that time. Gavaskar inspired a host of other great Indian batsmen like Sachin Tendulkar to take up the sport and take Indian cricket to new heights.
Gavaskar received a lot of love from West Indian people for his exploits against their cricket team. Gavaskar ended his career with a mammoth 34 centuries which looked insurmountable at that time. At one point of time, he held the record for both- most number of centuries and most runs in Test cricket.
He scored 15 out of his 34 centuries outside Asia, no surprises that seven of those 15 came in West Indies. Like other great Indian batsmen, he also liked Australian pitches, where he scored five centuries. Also, he scored two centuries in England while he was able to get only one in New Zealand.
