During the period of 2009-2012, the spin duo of Piyush Chawla and Harbhajan Singh bolstered India's spin attack and their combination also proved to be a breakthrough of a game changer and a force to reckon with, for the batsmen.

However, with the emergence of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, the duo was no longer considered the best and gradually found their way out of the national set-up. Chawla last played for India in 2012 against England. This shows the massive downfall of Piyush Chawla.
