5 Indian cricketers who married twice

From Virat Kohli to Zaheer Khan, 2017 saw many cricketers getting married and starting a new innings with their life partners. Ideally, we are all searching for that one person to spend the rest of our lives together. Finding one's better half is nevertheless a tricky job. Indian cricketers too founded themselves in a spot of bother when it comes to finding a perfect life partner.

#5 Dinesh Karthik

Krishna Kumar Dinesh Karthik aka DK is a Chennai born wicket-keeper batsman. In 2007, Karthik married his childhood friend Nikita (then Nikita Vanjara) at a very young age of 21. Both the families knew each other which led to their early marriage. The wedding lasted for 5 years.

In 2012, if rumors are to be believed, Karthik came to know of his wife's affair with another Indian cricketer and divorced her eventually.

A year after his divorce, Karthik met Dipika Pallikal in a sports gym as they both were taking fitness sessions under the same coach. Dipika is an Indian professional squash player and Arjuna awardee. Karthik proposed Dipika in London during an international outing. In 2015, the duo went ahead with their relationship and tied knots together on August 18th and 19th by both Christian and Indian rituals respectively.

Currently an Indian politician, Mohammad Azharuddin is one of the most controversial retired Indian cricketer. Renowned for his prolific batting style, Azharuddin's name shines on the list of most successful Indian captains. Back in 1987, Azhar got married for the first time to a 16-year-old Hyderabad based girl named Naureen. Known for her simplicity, Naureen avoided media publicity. Azhar had two sons with Naureen, Mohammad Asaduddin and Mohammad Ayazuddin. But the marriage lasted only 9 years.

Azhar's attention started shifting towards Sangeeta Bijlani (then model and actress). In 1996, due to his newly developed relationship, Azharuddin divorced Naureen and married Sangeeta. This marriage too ended in a divorce in 2010 due to his alleged affairs which were declined by the player.

Javagal Srinath is a former Indian fast bowler who led the Indian fast bowling attack after Kapil Dev for over 12 years. Currently serving in the elite panel of ICC match referee, Srinath featured in 4 world cups for India from 1992-2003. He took 44 wickets in these four editions. Remembered for taking a hat trick in his first-class debut, Srinath also features on the list of cricketers who married twice.

Popularly known as Mysore Express, Srinath was married to Jyothsna in 1999. But his first marriage ended in a mutually agreed divorce. In 2007, Srinath got remarried to Madhavi Patravali, a journalist. Madhavi works as a copy editor for an English daily. The wedding was a very quiet occasion attended by close family members and friends.

Hailing from the suburbs of Mumbai, this childhood friend of Sachin Tendulkar was one of the most stylish left-handed batsmen for India. He is the first man in the history of cricket to score a century in ODIs on his birthday. He is also the only cricketer to hit three consecutive test centuries in three innings, all centuries against different countries.

Kambli converted to Christianity after his second marriage and the duo were blessed with a baby boy in 2010 who was named Jesus Christiano Kambli.

Known for his lit tenure in the Indian cricket, Yograj Singh is the father of famous Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh. Coming from a Sikh farmer family, Yograj married Shabnam, the daughter of a Muslim businessman. They both are biological parents to Yuvraj Singh. If rumors are to be believed, Yograj wanted Shabnam to remain at home whereas Shabnam wanted to be independent. This led to a rift among them. Finally, Yograj divorced Shabnam and married Satveer Kaur.
