Ishan Porel featured in the 2018 World Cup-winning India Under 19 team. His Under 19 World Cup story was one which received appreciation from all over the world. Porel had injured his ankle in India’s opener against Australia after landing awkwardly in his follow-up.

After his injury, he fought to regain his place in the team. In the semi-finals against Pakistan, his fierce bowling got him four wickets in his six-over spell conceding just 17 runs. He ended the Under 19 World Cup 2018 with six wickets at an average of 13.16 with an economy rate of 3.56.

Porel has been a consistent performer for Bengal and was also the second highest wicket-taker for them in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018 with 10 wickets coming at an average of 20.80.
