Sanju Samson was considered as MS Dhoni's successor when he burst onto the scene in 2013. He had a lot of hype surrounding him at the time and was fast-tracked into the Indian team. He was selected for India's tour of England in 2014 and made his debut in 2015 against Zimbabwe. He played a solitary T20I and was dropped after that.

He was present in the India A setup for 12-15 months and was eventually, dropped. It has been 6-7 months since, he last represented the A team. He now has the likes of Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, Srikar Bharat and a couple of others ahead him in the pecking order.

He has been a prolific run-scorer for Rajasthan Royals and Kerala. He has shown the ability to play according to the situation and has matured as a player. We have seen him play the classic anchor role and we have also seen him tear bowling attacks.

Notable mentions: Nitish Rana, Mandeep Singh
