#1 Royal Challengers Bangalore - 49 vs Kolkata Knight Riders
The lowest score in IPL history is Bangalore's 49 against the Kolkata Knight Riders in a match which took place last year. You would never have guessed that a side containing Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and other Indian stars could have produced the worst batting performance of all time. No one made it into double figures.
Bangalore won the toss and elected to bowl first, which looked to be a good decision as they bowled KKR out for 131. Sunil Narine opened for them as a pinch-hitter and made an electric 34 (17) to get them off to a good start.
A few small cameos from Manish Pandey, Suryakumar Yadav and Chris Woakes dragged KKR up to the semi-respectable total of 131. Going into the interval, Bangalore had the momentum and looked like sure favourites to chase down this low total.
It was not to be. KKR produced a fantastic display of fast-bowling, in which Chris Woakes, Nathan Coulter-Nile and Colin de Grandhomme each picked up three wickets. Chris Gayle had a torrid time opening the batting and struggled to really connect and ended up with a peculiar 7 (17).
In fairness, he was the only RCB batsman to last more than ten balls at the crease. The individual player scores read 7, 0, 1, 8, 9, 8, 2, 0, 2, 5, 0. It is impossible to think of a worse batting performance than that. They only lasted 9.4 overs and ended with just 49 runs on the board. It is hard to imagine there being a lower score than this in the upcoming IPL edition.
