The Sri Lankan Cricket team was in self-destruction mode when they faced New Zealand in the second one-day international in Christchurch. Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat on a slightly moistened wicket. The batsmen played rash shots and got out cheaply. Sri Lanka's reckless batting let them get all out for 117 in just 27.4 overs.

Their self-destruction did not stop there. Martin Guptill was dropped in the first ball of the response, and Sri Lanka was made to pay a massive price as the Kiwi opener posted his country's fastest ever ODI fifty - from just 17 balls, with five fours and four sixes.

He then, went on to make 90 runs from just 30 balls. New Zealand chased the target in just 8.2 overs for the loss of no wickets. It is one of the worst annihilations ever, for an established side.
