Pakistan fast bowlers produced an unusual display as they bowled 20 no-balls in a closely contested game. In the end, those 20 no-balls decided the fate of the game. India beat Pakistan by a margin of just five runs.
Had the Pakistan fast bowlers bowled in a disciplined fashion, Pakistan would have pulled-off a world record chase.
The opening duo Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Sami bowled five no-balls in first 20 deliveries of the game. This provided India with the much-needed momentum as they started piling pressure on Pakistan bowlers.
The situation got worse for Pakistan in the 11th over of the game. Rana Naved-ul-Hasan was introduced into the attack. He bowled one of the worst overs in the ODI history. He conceded 24 runs with five no-balls. The sequence of the over was: 5nb, 5nb, 1nb, 0, 5nb, 1nb, 4, 2, 0, 0, 1.
In the end, Pakistan lost the game by just 4 runs. India bowled just two no-balls in contrast to Pakistan's twenty.
