#2 Group Stage, 2011 Cricket World Cup (Dhaka)

It is rightfully said that Revenge is a dish best served cold. Well, this match was India's way of taking revenge from Bangladesh from some humiliating incident four years prior in the best possible way. In the first match of their now victorious campaign at the 2011 World Cup, India were up against neighbours and co-host Bangladesh in their own Backyard at Dhaka.
India had entered the World Cup with a lot of momentum on their back a memorable 2010 season. However, since the match was taking place on Bangladeshi soil, there was a high chance of seeing an unexpected upset on the very first night of the tournament. However, some exceptional batting from Delhi Boys Virender Sehwag and Virat Kohli made sure that India convincingly reigned supreme in their tournament opener.
Virender Sehwag, in particular, played the best ODI inning of his career. Scoring 175 runs and assisted well by Virat Kohli, who too scored a century, Sehwag decimated the entire Bangladeshi bowling attack and took India to a mammoth total of 370/4 in 50 overs. Both Tamim Iqbal and Shakib al Hasan tried very hard to keep Bangladesh in the game with vital fifties, but the target was too much for the Tigers as they only managed 283/9 and lost the opening match by 87 runs.
