4. Alex Carey - Delhi Capitals
Alex Carey has come leaps and bounds in the last year or so. He was fabulous in the World Cup for Australia. He scored a lot of runs coming in at No.5 and No.6 whenever his team was in trouble.
Delhi Capitals picked up the young wicket-keeper for INR 2.4 crores in this year’s auction. He is a batsman who can bat anywhere in the batting order. The only thing which would worry him is that Delhi already has a young wicket-keeper in Rishabh Pant. So, it is unknown whether he will get a place in the first XI or will he be used as a back-up.
Having said that, he is a great addition to the young Delhi team and they will be hoping he comes good in his first IPL.
5. Fabian Allen - Sunrisers Hyderbabd
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) didn’t buy many players in this auction and was quiet for a long time. But in the players which they bought there was a hidden buy-in, Fabian Allen. They bought the West Indian all-rounder for just INR 50 lakhs.
SRH will miss the services of Shakib Al Hasan this year and so they bought a left-arm spinner who can bat. He isn’t the perfect replacement but still, he will do his job quietly.
He is a good left-arm spinner who likes to keep it tight and can smash a few sixes towards the end of an innings. Like all the West Indians, he is a ferocious hitter with the bat in hand. SRH needed a finisher and Fabian Allen can do that job if given an opportunity.
