Pankaj Singh got two chances but could not utilize it

The Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer's story is probably the most saddening amongst the others in this list. While the previous four names have managed to keep themselves somehow hanging in the giant scheme of things, Pankaj Singh is a player we have completely forgotten about.

Yet, he played two matches in the 2014 Investec Test series. Like Pandey, Singh played the two warm-up games, picking up a wicket in each game. That earned him a place in the team for the Third test but he failed big time with zero wickets.

Despite that, Dhoni had faith in him and selected him for the fourth Test. Though he picked up Joe Root and Joss Buttler's wicket, he conceded 113 runs as India had to deal with an innings defeat. Singh was dropped from the team for the last match, and he was not seen in the Indian white shirt ever since.
