2. Sanath Jayasuriya
In an international career that spanned over two decades, Sanath Jayasuriya underwent a massive transformation that not many cricketers could have pulled off. Despite essentially being considered as a bowler who can swing his willow for the first decade of his career, he finished it as a dangerous opener who can bludgeon the ball to all corners of the ground.
Not only should he be praised for his incredible longevity but also his ability to prove his critics wrong time and again and for coming back from some incredible lean times. While he wasn't a revolutionary as some others were, his ability to transform into a batsman and bowler so seamlessly isn't something many have been able to achieve.
And he scored runs and took wickets. Plenty of them as well. 13,430 runs and 323 wickets in 445 ODI matches speak of player who was certainly good at what he was doing. Only three players have scored more ODI runs than Jayasuriya who is also the only player to have taken 300 wickets and scored over 13,000 runs.
