D'Arcy Short

Just like his surname, D'Arcy tends to leave a lot of people short of superlatives to describe his batting. An aggressive left-handed batsman, D'Arcy is a product of the Big Bash League, Australia's premier T20 tournament.

D'Arcy Short's first season in the big bash was during the 2016/17 season where he opened the innings for the Hobart Hurricanes. He hit the ground running immediately scoring a half-century on debut at a destructive strike rate of 210. He finished the season with 198 runs of 8 matches.

He returned with the Hobert Hurricanes for the 2017/18 season and brought the tournament to a standstill with his batting performances. He scored a mammoth 572 runs in 15 matches at an average of 57.20 and a strike rate of 148.57. Such was the amount of runs he scored in the tournament that the next batsman on the list had 247 runs less than him!.

Short's spectacular run in the Big Bash league earned him a call up to the Australian T20I squad for the triangular series with England and New Zealand. He put up some eye-popping performances in the series, scoring 196 runs in 5 matches at an average of 39.2 along with 2 fifties. He has become an integral part of the Australian T20I squad but his status in the ODI squad is still under process.
