The 31-year-old pacer was a part of the playing XI for the second Test against Australia which India lost. He wasn't too effective, picking up just 2 wickets in the first innings of the match.

However, Umesh Yadav might have been a lot more effective in the limited-overs format, given his performances over the past year or so. He can pick up wickets with the new ball and constantly trouble the batsmen with his swing. However, the team management decided against selecting him.

He will now have to wait and see if he is given a chance to prove himself before the World Cup.
