Deodhar Trophy 2017: 5 players who were unlucky to miss out on a spot

Varun Aaron

Ad

Once hailed as one of the fastest pacers in the country, Varun Aaron’s international career has gone haywire owing to a combination of injuries and poor form, as well as the emergence of a set of dependable fast bowlers at the top most level. He was hit hard by a heel injury which took longer than usual to heal, sending his plans for a quick comeback further in disarray.

He has been making all the right noises, and his recent exploits with the ball for Jharkhand highlight his case. In seven matches, he has picked up 14 wickets, at an economy of 4.88 and an average of 21. Although he is treading cautiously after the injury and not bowling in full spate, Aaron has still managed to trouble batsmen with his disconcerting bounce and testing lines. Surely, a spot in one of the teams would have done his confidence a world of good.
