Ravichandran Ashwin

Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will miss IPL 2017 as a result of his sports hernia which he sustained after the Test series against England in December. He missed Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Trophy quarter-final against Karnataka as a result of it but continued to take part in the Australia series.
He finished the home season not only with 82 Test wickets, which is the most by any bowler in a Test season but also with the world record of most overs bowled by a bowler in a Test season (738.2). The immense workload has taken its toll and that will mean that Rising Pune Supergiant will not have Ashwin’s services in IPL 2017.
Instead, the off-spinner, who has been advised six to eight weeks of rehabilitation, will hope that he can regain full fitness ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy that will take place in England in June.
