The Sri Lankan spin-wizard was a prominent fixture in the CSK squad during his three-year stay at the franchise. Murali, who was bought by the Chennai Super Kings during the inaugural IPL auction in 2008 for $600,000 was at his usual best with the ball for Dhoni's men providing regular breakthroughs at crucial junctures.

Apart from taking 15 wickets in the successful 2010 season, he was CSK's most economical bowler in the high-voltage finals against the Mumbai Indians, finishing with the figures of 1/17 in his four overs.

Overall, Murali took 40 wickets during his three-year CSK stint, with his best figures being 3/11. At the 2011 IPL auctions, he was bought by the now-defunct, Kochi Tuskers Kerala for a whopping $1,100,000. But he managed just 2 wickets in the five matches he played throughout the season.

After the termination of the Kochi franchise, Murali moved to RCB in 2012 for $220,000. He stayed there until the 2014 IPL managing just 21 wickets across three seasons.
