99 vs West Indies, Visakhapatnam, 2013

India was playing West Indies, in a day-night match at Visakhapatnam in the 2nd ODI of the bilateral series in 2013. The hosts won the first game in Kanpur by 5 wickets and were looking to continue their dominance and clinch the series.
In the 2nd ODI, India lost its opener Rohit Sharma for just 12 runs. Kohli, who came in at No.3, built some key partnerships with Yuvraj Singh and Raina and took India to a competitive total of 288 for the loss off 7 wickets. On the final ball of the 40th over, Kohli got dismissed when he was on 99, thanks to a bouncer from Rampaul.
India went on to lose this game in the last over, behind Darren Sammy's 63 off 45 balls with 4 fours and 4 sixes that helped the all-rounder claim the man of the match. This was the first and only instance when he got out on 99.
