The Global T20 Canada 2024 started on Thursday, July 25, with the Vancouver Knights and Toronto Nationals taking on each other in the first match at the CAA Centre in Brampton, Ontario.
Batting first, the Vancouver Knights struggled big time as they bundled on 110 runs in 19.3 overs. The Toronto Nationals bowlers were brilliant; leading the charge was Junaid Siddique, who took four wickets.
In response, the Toronto Nationals faced no difficulties, as they easily chased down the target in 14.4 overs. Leading the way was captain Colin Munro, who scored 44 runs off 39 runs.
Towards the end, Rassie van der Dussen showed his skills; the Proteas batter remained unbeaten on 31 off 18 balls as Toronto won the game by eight wickets.

#1 David Warner
David Warner will lead the Brampton Wolves in GT20 Canada 2024. The left-handed batter announced his retirement after the 2024 T20 World Cup. Australia had a disappointing campaign as they failed to reach the semi-finals.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, the former Australian batter scored 178 runs in seven runs. Overall, Warner has played in 385 T20s and has scored 12411 runs at a strike rate of 140, including 104 fifties and eight centuries.
Warner will be one of the batters to watch out for in GT20 Canada 2024. It will be interesting to see how he plays after retiring from international cricket.
#2 Usman Khawaja
The second name on the list is another Australian player, Usman Khawaja. The left-handed batter didn’t have the best opening game, as he only managed to score three runs off 10 balls, with the Vancouver Knights also ending on the losing side.
Usman is a big-match player and will be looking to lead his side from the front in the coming games. The Australian batter has shown his skill on an international level and is still an integral part of their Test side.

Afghanistan player Rahmanullah Gurbaz is one of the best T20 opening batters going around the world. The right-handed player will represent the Bangla Tigers Mississauga in GT20 Canada 2024.
The keeper-batter was the leading run-scorer in the 2024 T20 World Cup; he played an important role for his side as Afghanistan reached the semi-finals for the first time in their history.
Gurbaz was recently seen in the Lanka Premier League. He scored 239 runs in nine matches for the Colombo Strikers. Overall, the star batter has played in 186 T20s and has scored 4567 runs, with two centuries to his name.
#4 Chris Lynn
The 34-year-old Australian batter will lead the Montreal Tigers in GT20 Canada 2024. The Montreal Tigers won the GT20 Canada 2023 under Chris Lynn and will look to repeat this feat in the 2024 edition.
The right-handed batter was the leading run-getter last year; he scored 234 runs in nine innings, including two fifties.
Lynn has a wealth of experience in T20 cricket, having played 285 matches. He has scored over 8,000 runs, with 53 half-centuries and five centuries to his name. Montreal fans will be hoping that Lynn continues to lead from the front and bring glory to them this year as well.
#5 Rassie van der Dussen
The last on the list is Proteas player Rassie van der Dussen. The right-handed batter has started the tournament on a positive note; he remained unbeaten on 31 off 18 balls in the first game against Vancouver Knights. He hit one four and three sixes, guiding his team, the Toronto Nationals, to an easy win.
Dussen was not in the 15-member delegation for South Africa in the T20 World Cup that reached the final. He will be looking to make a statement in this tournament by scoring some big runs.
