Rahul made both his first Test and ODI hundred overseas

The Karnataka batsman was selected for India's tour to Australia in 2014 and in the third Test of that series was handed a Test debut, one which he will not want to remember as he fell for cheap scores in both innings of the game

The management though were willing to give another opportunity and this time at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the right-hander delivered the goods, making his maiden Test hundred and silencing those who had questioned his abilities early on.

Just over a year later, in 2016, Rahul was picked in a second-string Indian side to tour Zimbabwe and in his first outing, he smashed his maiden ODI hundred to get his name into an elite category to have achieved that feat.

A few months later, Rahul joined Raina and Rohit Sharma as the third Indian player to score a hundred in each of the three formats of the game.
