The leg-spinner, who has been in India’s scheme of things in recent times, was part of the squad then, but like Pathan played only in the warm-up matches, in the lead to the main tournament.

Mishra was picked after he had a good outing in the Indian Premier League for the then newly-launched Sunrisers Hyderabad but did not get the nod in the Indian side for the games as MS Dhoni and the management went for Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ever since then, he has played for India in several competitions but post the 2014 World T20, has failed to find a berth in any of the other major tournaments. Hopefully, he can find a spot in a couple of years time at the 2019 50-over World Cup.
