#2 Fastest to 1000 ODI Runs in a calender year

Virat Kohli created yet another record by his batting masterclass at Visakhapatnam. He breached the 1,000 run mark in the calendar year, and in the process became the fastest to do it. He broke the record which was jointly held by him along with Hashim Amla, with both the elegant batsmen having previously done it in 15 innings.

Kohli, playing his 11th ODI of 2018, also became the highest run scorer of the year crossing the aggregate of England's Jonny Bairstow. In the 11 games that he has played, he has scored 1046 runs, at a whopping average of 149.42, with 5 hundreds and 3 fifties, along with a highest score of 160* against South Africa.

#1 Fastest to 10,000 international runs

The Indian skipper had been knocking at the door of 10,000 international runs for quite some. He finally entered the elite club in this game by virtue of his batting masterclass.

Kohli required 81 runs in this game to breach the 5-figure mark, and in the course of his innings, smashed the record of Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar had previously scored 10K runs in 259 innings, whereas Kohli has surpassed him, having done it in just 205 innings, with a hair-raising margin of 45 innings.

In the process, Kohli became the 4th highest run scorer for India, ahead of erstwhile skipper MS Dhoni.
