One cannot understand the idiosyncratic ways of Indian Team Cricket Selectors. Squad for 3rd ODI has been announced. As expected and rightly so many key players have been rested and many youngsters have been given opportunity to showcase their talent.
But one expect logic and prudent decision from selectors while giving chance to youngsters. Though I am not debating the total selection process but my heart goes out to poor Abhishek Nayar who despite performing well in domestic circuit has been neglected again by selectors. Remember Abhishek just recently scored a beautiful century while playing for the Board President Eleven against SA when no batsman was able to hold the fort.
I don’t doubt the selection of other youngsters but surely Abhishek Nayar deserves a place ahead of Murli Vijay with all respect to Vijay he is deserving player no doubt but his performance in limited over is not that great compared to Nayar. Actually his fellow statesman Badrinath would have been better option if you compare the record and form in ongoing Vijay Hazare trophy.
What I mean here is to say that Nayar has potential of becoming good all rounder if properly groomed and given a chance. It is a great dent to his confidence if he is dropped in haphazard manner without giving chance to perform. Surely selcetors will take note of this and act accordingly.
We don’t want another player to join the list of players who have lost in oblivion like Randeeb Bose, Amol Mujumdar etc. Atleast give Nayar a decent chance to perform ,then his perform will ensure whether he deserves in to be side or not.
