Abhishek Sharma is professional Indian cricketer born on 4th September, 2000. Initially a middle-order player, he transitioned smoothly to the top three for Punjab in domestic cricket and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. In addition to his batting, he is a useful left-arm spinner with a deceptive leg cutter. Abhishek first made waves in age-group cricket, emerging as the top run-scorer in the Vijay Merchant U-16 tournament in 2015-16. He captained India to victory in the U-19 Asia Cup and played a crucial role in India's 2018 U-19 World Cup win.

He debuted in the IPL with Delhi Daredevils in 2018, scoring an explosive 46 off 19 balls. However during the 2022 IPL season with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, he amassed 426 runs and played a memorable 34-run cameo off 15 balls against Rashid Khan. In 2023, he helped Punjab win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, hitting two centuries. He also set IPL history in 2024, contributing 63 off 23 balls in Sunrisers' record total of 277 for 3. Abhishek’s talents extend to first-class cricket, where he scored a debut 94 in the Ranji Trophy and made his first century in 2022.

Abhishek Sharma Salary 2024

As of October 2024, Sharma does not have a national contract with the BCCI, apart from the match salary he receives for appearing in the final roster. Most of Abhishek Sharma's annual income comes from his IPL salary. The popularity his batting has gained in the last few years has benefited Abhishek's IPL salary, which was only 55 lakhs in 2021 and has now increased to 6.5 crores.

From 2018 to 2021, Abhishek Sharma's IPL salary was only INR 55 lakhs, which he used to receive from the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Due to his consistent performance, Sunrisers Hyderabad increased his fee for each season from 55 lakhs to 6.5 crores in 2022, which remained till 2024.

Abhishek Sharma represents Punjab in the major domestic competitions of all three formats namely Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

According to reports from ESPN, Abhishek Sharma receives around a match fee of INR 12.6 lakhs for participating in the Ranji Trophy. Whereas in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, his match fee is INR 1.11 lakhs per match. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy which is played in one day format, Abhishek Sharma's salary per match is INR 3.24 lakhs.

As of October 2024, Abhishek Sharma is not yet included in the national contract. The biggest reason is that he made his debut in July 2024, which is considered too early to receive a national contract. Although in the IPL, Abhishek has been associated with Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2019.
