An inspirational captain, he led New Zealand to their maiden World Cup final as they finished runners-up in World Cup 2015.
He is the only New Zealand batsman to have scored a triple century in Tests and is the fastest to score a Test century in terms of ball faced.
In the last Test of his career, he smashed the Australian bowlers all around the park after coming in to bat when his team was struggling at 32-3. He scored the fastest ton of Test history in his last test. He achieved this feat by scoring 100 off 54 balls en route his 79 balls 145.
He finished with 6453 runs in 101 Tests. He hit 107 sixes in his career before retiring in 2016.
