#7 James Tredwell
This may come as a surprise but James Tredwell was the captain of the England T20 team for one match; on paper that is. Best remembered for his spell of 4/43 against West Indies which took England to the quarter-finals of the 2011 World Cup, Tredwell played 17 T20Is, taking only 7 wickets at a disappointing average of 59.42 and an economy of 7.87.
During New Zealand’s tour of England in 2013, the Kiwis had beaten England in the first T20I by 5 runs and in the second T20I at The Oval, Tredwell was supposed to lead England in place of Eoin Morgan. England came out to bat first and just as they lost their opening wicket in the second ball of the match, rain interrupted play.
Play never resumed and Tredwell did not get the chance to display his leadership abilities.
