The newly elected Board of Control for Cricket in India President Anurag Thakur surely has a tough task ahead of him as the apex body is currently under a bit of pressure due to the Supreme Court orders. The 41-year-old, who is also a member of Lok Sabha from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh in India, became the second youngest president of BCCI. He took over from Shashank Manohar who recently tendered his resignation. The throne will not look as sweet as it looks and the three-time Lok Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district should be ready to face turbulent times ahead. Amidst all the controversies regarding the Supreme Court’s recommendations, which if implemented might force Thakur to wait for three years before taking over the top role as a mandatory cooling off period.

1.Anurag Thakur is the son of Prem Kumar Dhumal, the former Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh. He himself has become the Member of the Parliament thrice Member. Thakur was first elected to the Lok Sabha in May 2008 in a by-poll as a candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP).
2,Anurag Thakur was born on 24th October 1974 at Hamirpur. He did his schooling from Dayanand Model School, Jalandhar and later completed his BA from Doaba College, Jalandhar.
3.The newly crowned BCCI boss also played one First Class game representing Himachal Pradesh in 2000-01 season and picked up 2 wickets while conceding 54 runs in his 9 overs.
4.He is also the head of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association and made the headlines for possibly being the first cricketer to have made his first-class debut after taking over as the president of the state cricket association. He was instrumental in setting up a cricket stadium at Dharamsala which is considered one of the most picturesque cricket grounds in the world because of its scenic backdrops.
5.As a joint secretary, he was also the convenor of the selection committee of the victorious 2012 U-19 World Cup Indian team. In fact, when Ankit Bawne, who was named captain initially, was found to be over-aged, it was Thakur who took the initiative to ensure that a new captain is named. Later Unmukt Chand was selected the skipper and he led the team to a memorable triumph.

6.As a politician, he is perceived as a young face of the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party and he is also the only leader to be re-appointed for a third term as the National President of BJYM, the youth wing of the BJP.
7.Within Parliament, Thakur serves as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT and Member of Public Accounts Committee. Thakur has also been a recipient of the Best Young Parliamentarian Award in 2011.
8.The Lok Sabha member and one of the youngest leaders of BJP, Anurag Thakur was also chosen as one of the global young leaders by World Economic Forum (WEF) in 2014.
9. Unlike some administrators, Thakur was an active junior level cricketer having led Punjab U-16 to a Vijay Merchant Trophy triumph.
10. He is married to Shefali Thakur, daughter of Gulab Singh Thakur, former Public Works Department minister in the government of Himachal Pradesh and has two sons named Jaiaditya and Udayveer, aged 12 and 6, respectively.
