The Asia Cup 2016 is all set to begin on 19 February 2016 with Afghanistan and Oman facing off in the first match of the qualifying stage. The main tournament starts with a match between hosts Bangladesh and 5-time champions India on 24 February 2016.
This will be the first time that the Asia Cup will contested in a Twenty20 format and the third successive time that Bangladesh are hosts of the tournament, having hosted it in 2012 and 2014. They had also previously hosted the event in 2000.

Coming in the tournament, Sri Lanka are the defending champions after defeating Pakistan in the 2014 Asia Cup final by 5 wickets.
Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are already in the main tournament while Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman and United Arab Emirates will face off in the qualifiers with one team making it to the next stage.
