Bangladesh:
Soumya Sarkar (2/10)
Soumya was troubled by Indian bowlers from the very first ball of the match. He did score a hard-fought 11 off 14 balls but failed to read the bounce on Bumrah's delivery and was eventually caught behind by Dhoni. Bangladesh needed Soumya to start well but he failed.
Mohammad Mithun (0.5/10)
It was a very disappointing performance from Mithun. He was in the dugout after facing 3 deliveries. Nehra's inswinging fast delivery completely surprised him and was clean bowled.
Sabbir Rahman (7/10)
He gets seven for his efforts to control Bangladesh’s collapsing innings. Top scorer for the hosts with 44 off 32 balls, he failed to convert his innings into a match-winning one. His bad call between the wicket also resulted in Shakib-Al-Hasan’s run-out.
Imrul Kayes (2/10)
He played 24 deliveries and scored just 14 runs. Even though he was part of the re-building partnership with Sabbir, a strike rate of 58.33 was really poor when you consider that Bangladesh were chasing a difficult total.
Mahmudullah (6/10)
Two catches and the important wicket of Suresh Raina, Mahmudullah didn’t disappoint with the in the field. But Bangladesh’s World Cup 2015 hero failed with the bat. He mistimed Nehra's delivery and was caught at deep mid-wicket.
Shakib Al Hasan (4/10)
Shakib dropped the most important catch of the match when he was fielding at point. Rohit Sharma was on just 21 when he was dropped by Shakib. The Indian opener went on to score 62 in 27 balls after the drop. That catch could have changed everything for Bangladesh in the Asia Cup opener. Shakib got one wicket – that of Yuvraj Singh. He was run-out early in his innings after a miscommunication with Sabbir Rahman.
Mushfiqur Rahim (5/10)
Mushfiqur Rahim was unbeaten in the end, scoring 16 off 17. Even though he tried his best to up the ante, he was in a hapless situation as the required run-rate was too high and wickets kept falling at the other end.
Mashrafe Mortaza (4/10)
Mortaza got rid of the dangerous Virat Kohli with a short delivery and that was his only wicket in the match. He was quite expensive as he gave away 40 runs in his quota of four overs. The skipper couldn’t do much with the bat as he was dismissed by Ashish Nehra for a duck.
Al-Amin Hossain (8/10)
He picked up three important wickets - Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya - in the match. The bowler definitely holds the key to Bangladesh’s success in the upcoming games in the Asia Cup. After getting Dhawan out early, he got the wickets of Rohit and Pandya in the final over. His fielding, though, was sloppy.
Mustafizur Rahman (2/10)
Surprisingly, Mustafizur went wicketless and was also expensive as he gave away 40 runs in his 4 overs spell. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya took the attack to him in his third over with three fours and one six coming off that over.
Taskin Ahmed (6/10)
Taskin built the pressure and Al-Amin Hossain got the wicket. He was bang on target at the start of the innings with his quick deliveries constantly beating the two Indian openers. He gave away 22 runs in his wicketless spell off three overs.
