The qualifying round of Asia Cup will be played from February 19 (Friday) while the actual tournament begins on February 24. All matches will be hosted by Bangladesh (qualifiers in Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Outer Stadium, Fatullah and main round in Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur).
The format of the tournament has been changed to 20 overs from 50 for the first time in the history. Past 12 editions were 50-over contests. India are favourites to win the title after coming off from two successive series victories, against Australia (3-0) and Sri Lanka (2-1).
India and Sri Lanka have won the tournament 5 times each and Pakistan twice. Bangladesh have beaten India and Pakistan in recent home series and they are proving to be a hard nut to crack with their strong pace attack which includes Mustazifur Rahman and openers like Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar.
