Australia retain the Frank Worrell Trophy with an emphatic win over the West Indies

Australia won the Test inside three days

Australia have retained the Frank Worrell trophy after defeating the West Indies in the first Test at Dominica. The match ended inside three days as the Aussies chased down the small target of 47 set by the windies with 9 wickets to spare before the close of play.

West Indies began Day 3 with just 25 runs on the board and having lost two wickets already, they lost Bravo to Hazzlewood having added just 12 more runs. but then came the rescue act from Marlon Samuels and Shane Dowrich who put on a 144-run stand for the 4th wicket. Hazzlewood came back again to remove the debutant for a well compiled 70.

And then a familiar sight occurred as the windies collapsed without putting up a fight as they lost their last 6 wickets for just 27 runs. David Warner came out all guns blazing as he scored 10 runs off the very first over and then hit another six in the second over. He got out for 28 with Australia needing only 5 more runs to complete the formalities. Steven Smith and Shaun Marsh ensured nobody else had to come out to bat.

Even though the match ended in three days, the Windies were in the contest for most part of the game as they even once had the Aussies reeling at 126 for 6 in reply to their first innings score of 148. But the debutant Adam Voges made all the difference with a well compiled century on debut. He was named the player of the match.
