Five-time winners and defending champions Australia will look to make it a hat-trick of titles when they defend their crown in the forthcoming edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023, which will take place in South Africa b/w Feb 10-26.
As expected, Australia Women have named a powerful squad for the upcoming event, with regular skipper Meg Lanning returning to the set-up after taking a few months off from the game.
The Aussies have all the bases covered in almost every department. They have batting depth till the very end, and most of their batters can roll their arm as well, including Ashleigh Gardener, Tahlia McGrath and the evergreen, Ellyse Healy.
The spin department will again be led by leg-spinner Alana King and SLA, Jess Jonassen, while Georgia Wareham has also been picked in the squad as an additional leg-spin option.
As far as pace is concerned, the experienced Megan Schutt will lead the attack, and she will have the likes of Grace Harris, Annabel Sutherland, Darcie Brown to lend her support.
Australia have been slotted in Group A alongside South Africa Women, Bangladesh Women, Sri Lanka Women and New Zealand Women. The defending champions will open their campaign against the White Ferns at Boland Park in Paarl on February 11.
