Australia vs England 2018, 2nd ODI - Hits and misses

Australia v England - Game 2

Hit: Joe Root

Australia v England - Game 2

Australia opted to bat in Brisbane and were looking set to score 300 when part-time off-spinner Joe Root played an unlikely part to reduce the hosts to 161/3 after 30 overs.

Root trapped Steven Smith in front of the wickets for 18 before having Travis Head caught and bowled in a tidy spell.

Then, he played another beautiful innings and remained unbeaten on 46 as England chased down their target of 271 with 34 balls remaining.

In Melbourne, Root remained unbeaten on 91 off 110 balls as the visitors trounced the high-flying hosts in the first ODI.

The 27-year-old hit a well-paced half-century and held on to one end as Jason Roy was tormenting the Aussie bowlers with his power-hitting.
