England were staring down the barrel after Eoin Morgan's resistance came to an end against Pat Cummins. At 61/6, there was only one way England were headed but Chris Woakes had other ideas. He continued his rich vein of form in the series with an 82-ball 78 studded with five maximums.

Australia, who were hopeful of bowling the visitors out for below 100, suddenly found themselves hunting leather as Woakes launched a scything counter-attack against Australia's average second line of attack. By the end of his knock, Woakes had moved into the third position among top run-scorers in the series.
